Forstify Deep Links
Link: https://app.forstify.de/measure?… ·
File: .forstify (application/vnd.forstify.measurements+json)
Overview
- Measurement link: your app opens Forstify with a new measurement whose values are already filled in.
- Share with app: the user sends a summary of one or more measurements from Forstify to your app as a
.forstifyfile.
Both work on the device and offline. For synced data on your server, use the External API.
note. It shows in the measurement and comes back in the shared file.
Quick start
Open this page on a phone or tablet with Forstify installed and tap a button. Each one starts a new measurement with example values.
Spruce, quality B, 4 m, reduction factor 0.95, conversion factor 0.7, logpile P-101, note and all further details.

Oak, quality A, 8.5 m, logpile P-103, note, forest owner and division.

What the app does
Checks
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Not logged in | The app shows the login and continues with the link after the login. A new registration drops the link: open it again once the account is ready. |
| Forstify not installed, or the link opens in a browser | A page with Open in app and the store links opens; the user can close it. The values do not survive installing the app: open the link again from your app afterwards. |
| Link not used | The app uses a link right away or after the login. Otherwise it is dropped, also when the app is closed: open the link again. |
No method in the link | The method picker opens; the values apply to the method the user picks. |
Rules
- Every value stays visible and can be changed by the user.
- Every parameter is optional and checked on its own. An invalid value is skipped, the rest still applies, and the app shows a short notice naming the skipped parameters. Unknown parameters are ignored.
- Parameters the chosen method does not use are ignored.
- One link starts one measurement.
Measurement link
Parameters
Query parameters of /measure. URL-encode every value. Decimals use a point (4.5, not 4,5) and at most two decimals. Codes are case-insensitive, except method.
| Parameter | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
method | MethodCode | Measurement method, see Methods. Missing: the user picks it. |
species | WoodSpecies | Wood species, see WoodSpecies |
quality | WoodQuality | Quality class, see Enums |
logLength | number | Log length in metres, 0.1 – 100 |
width | number | Photo analysis: width in metres between the outermost logs of the photographed face, e.g. a log pile, truck or container. 0.1 – 100 |
reductionFactor | number | Reduction factor, 0.1 – 1 |
conversionFactor | number | Conversion factor from stacked cubic metres (Rm) to solid cubic metres (Fm), 0.1 – 1 |
number | string | Logpile number (Polternummer). Max 65 chars. |
note | string | Note. Max 500 chars. A good place for your own reference. |
forestOwner | string | Waldbesitzer / Forest Owner. Max 100 chars. |
forester | string | Förster / Forester. Max 100 chars. |
serviceProvider | string | Dienstleister / Service Provider. Max 100 chars. |
buyer | string | Käufer / Buyer. Max 100 chars. |
hiebsNumber | string | Hiebsnr / Felling no. Max 100 chars. |
lotNumber | string | Losnr / Lot no. Max 100 chars. |
areaNumber | string | Revier / Area. Max 100 chars. |
division | string | Abteilung / Compartment. Max 100 chars. |
subdivision | string | Unterabteilung / Sub-compartment. Max 100 chars. |
inventoryUnit | string | Bestandseinheit / Inventory Unit. Max 100 chars. |
Methods
Logpile number, note, species and the "further details" fields are filled in for every method. Sortiment and Sorte are set by the user.
| MethodCode | Name in the app (DE / EN) | Input data for direct start |
|---|---|---|
logpile | Forstify Maß / Forstify Measurement | species, logLength, quality |
photo_analysis | Foto analysieren / Analyze Photo | logLength, width |
sectional | Sektionsraummaß / Sectional Volume Measurement | logLength, quality, reductionFactor, conversionFactor |
sectional_form | Sektionsraummaß (Formular) / Sectional Volume Measurement (form) | logLength, quality, reductionFactor, conversionFactor |
single_log_form | Einzelstamm / Single Log | species, logLength, quality |
volume_form | Volumen / Volume | logLength, quality, reductionFactor, conversionFactor (used for Rm input) |
The same codes are used for method in the shared file. A photo analysis comes back as logpile: it saves the same kind of measurement.

Receive on Android
Forstify sends an ACTION_SEND intent with the MIME type above and the file as a content:// URI in EXTRA_STREAM, with read permission granted. Add an intent filter for that MIME type:

Forstify declares the type de.forstify.measurements. Import the type and declare that your app opens it; the share sheet then lists your app for .forstify files. Add to Info.plist:

Versioning
- The file carries
formatandversion(1). A change that removes or reshapes a field gets a new file version. - New link parameters and new file fields can be added at any time. Ignore fields you do not know.
- New enum values (e.g. species) can appear at any time. Handle unknown codes, e.g. by showing the code.
